During my last livestream, I continued work on a character turnaround for “Anthem”, one of the protagonists of my current game project. By the end of the week I’d like to have two turnarounds done so the five people I’m doing art trades with have some choices of what they want to draw.

Beyond the art trades, I’m going to be working on a collaborative comic of sorts with Kittypaint of deviantArt, featuring our two mascot characters. Her characters are a lot of fun, so I’m really looking forward to what we end up coming up with.

I also managed to get a song complete enough to show — I’ve rendered the M01 and FL studio versions of the song below.

The M01 version is slightly different from the FL version because the Oboe instrument doesn’t have the same impact in M01 as it did in FL. The FL version uses the DUNE preset Oboe MK; the closest equivalent in M01 was the harmonica instrument. I’m going to record the M01 version again after I make some corrections here or there.

I participated in another meme recently. This one had me generate a description of a “Monster guy or gal” and then draw it. The prompt I generated was “Imported air spirit boy who wears shorts and dislikes Crate”.

While my job keeps me from finishing as many new full illustrations as I’d like, I’ve been getting a great deal done with oekaki programs and the like.

I finally finished preliminary work on transcribing an old song of mine to the KORG m01.

(Updated October 21, 2011) Newer versions of Gale arrived since I initially posted about it, so I’ve updated my GaleKeys.REG file as well as the list of shortcuts. I have additionally provided a GaleCommon.REG if you want your window settings to be like mine. Most importantly, these settings, files and future tutorials apply to the Beta version of Gale, meaning only 2.X and above!

By default, Graphics Gale has no shortcuts set up for the various tools and such one can use. Additionally, the window positions one keeps is saved by Gale, but lost if it is reinstalled. To make installing and setting up Graphics Gale faster and easier, I have prepared several .REG files (GaleKeys.REG and GaleCommon.REG) that set up my preferred keyboard shortcuts and window positions respectively.

Note: I’ve included the default settings as well as my settings so its easy to locate the new settings in the preferences list. If you use the GaleKeys.REG file you don’t have to set any of this up, but it’s good to have as reference.
